Dena's Story

Although I was a Muncie transplant (1961-'73), the years I spent there were important ones. It was tough being me in high school because of overly strict (but loving) parents. So despite my wanting to be involved in the heart of high school life, I was held back and felt... different. Probably the highlight of my experiences at Muncie Central were participating in the publishing of the Munsionian and the Magician, where I gained valuable experience with Edgar Henderson as my advisor and mentor. Because of the foundation built by my MCHS experience, I was blessed to have spent time studying in both Athens and Paris (...and did not want to return home from either place!). I take my experiences at Muncie Central to be an important part of my life. The education I received there has served me for decades. And although I returned quickly to California after graduating from BSU, I have never forgotten Muncie's sweet, slow, fragrant small town life where springs meant the promise of warm weather and flowers everywhere, summers meant swimming at local pools and country clubs, and fall was an explosion of color and the prospect of exciting winter basketball season.
